Waste, rubbish and bonfires
Recyle and compost
Members are encouraged to recycle their garden and kitchen waste but please do not bring items of garden waste to burn on the site.
Bonfires. At the AGM this year the membership agreed to ban bonfires on a Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, members are reminded of the following:
On other says, bonfires must not be lit earlier than two hours before sunset, sunset times are given on the chart below.
Members should avoid the burning of 'green waste' - this should be composted. Material for bonfires should be dry and combustible, thus reducing the smoke nuisance.
Ideally wait for a still evening or when the wind direction is towards the golf course. Avoid lighting fires when the wind direction is towards residential areas.
Large items (tree trunks stc.) can be deposited on the bonfire site adjacent to the wood-chip and manure delivery point by the Cambridge Avenue entrance, this will be disposed of by the Committee.
Do NOT bring domestic waste onto the site for burning.
Members are responsible for ensuring adequate fire safey - this includes ensuring bonfires are properly extinguished before leaving the site - do not leave it smouldering overnight.

Skips
We occasionally provide commercial skips for the disposal of non biodegradable rubbish generated on the site. When you see one of these on the site, please scour the site (not just your own plot) for any unsightly rubbish and put it in the skip as this will help to improve the environment of the site as a whole. But do make sure you don't dispose of anything that may be being saved by another plot holder for supporting plants and the like - if in doubt, ask!
To dig one's own spade into one's own earth!
